In 2005 I took a trip that became known, in my memories and all the references to it over the years as well, as “my Tuscan Journey”. While there, I shot photos of a gorgeous field of poppies… the first such scene I’d ever encountered. I painted a scene from the trip’s photos some time ago. But the image was so gorgeous that it begged to be painted again. So I reworked the placement of the poppies on the board, using a different composition for this one. A made-up composition, you might say. But to my mind it works and it turned out as beautifully as that original one. Which pleases me very much.
